Psychologist in Chestermere, AB

Chestermere looks, from the outside, like a place where things are going well. Lakefront homes, strong schools, an easy run into the city. That picture can make it harder to admit when something isn’t right and harder still to find someone to talk to about it, since Chestermere has almost no clinical mental health presence of its own.

Be Well Psychology works with Chestermere residents from our downtown Calgary office, about twenty-five minutes west on Highway 1. There’s no waitlist, no referral needed, and no requirement that things reach breaking point before you book. We see adults, couples, families, adolescents, and young children.

Our Therapy Services for Chestermere Residents

Individual Therapy

A high-functioning life can hide a lot. You’re performing well at work, the house runs, nobody would guess and privately something has been flat or tight for months. Because nothing has visibly broken, seeking support can feel unjustified. It isn’t. We work with Chestermere adults on anxiety that doesn’t announce itself, low-grade depression, perfectionism, sleep that stopped working, and unresolved experiences that surface at inconvenient moments. Our approaches include ACT, CBT, EMDR, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, chosen to fit you rather than a protocol. Sessions are confidential and entirely separate from the community you live in.

Couples Therapy

Two careers, two calendars, and a household that runs on efficient handoffs. Chestermere partners often describe a relationship that functions beautifully as an operation and has quietly stopped being one. Nobody is fighting. That’s part of the problem. Our couples work makes room for what gets skipped when the logistics always win resentment nobody voices, intimacy that faded without a decision being made, differences about money or parenting that get deferred indefinitely. We draw on Gottman Method and attachment-based approaches. Partners who come before a rupture generally have an easier time than those who wait for one.

Therapy for Teens

For a Chestermere teenager, privacy is scarce. One high school, a small social world, and a lake town where a bad weekend reaches parents before Monday. On top of that sits real academic and athletic expectation much of it internalized rather than imposed. Our therapists offer adolescents something they rarely get locally: a room with no one from their life in it. We work with teens on anxiety, pressure to perform, disordered relationships with food or body image, low mood, self-harm, and identity questions. Weekend and after-school times are available so sessions don’t compete with practice or exams.

Therapy for Families

Living somewhere small has an upside and a cost. Everyone knows everyone wonderful when things are steady, exposing when they aren’t. A separation, a teenager’s difficult year, or a parent’s illness in a tight-knit community carries an audience families elsewhere don’t have to manage. We help Chestermere households sort out what’s actually happening between them, without the added weight of who’s watching. Our work covers co-parenting after separation, blended-family dynamics, conflict between siblings, caring for aging parents, and the gap that opens between generations. Sessions happen in Calgary deliberately outside the neighbourhood.

Therapy for Children

Kids don’t process things the way adults do, so we don’t ask them to. Our Airdrie child therapists use play-based therapy and Triple P Positive Parenting to reach children through how they naturally communicate. We work with children navigating anxiety, big emotions, behavioural concerns, ADHD, autism, and adjustment after a move or family change. And we don’t hand you a report and send you home you leave with tools for Tuesday night, when the bedtime battle actually happens.

Fees, plainly stated. Sessions begin at $235 per 60-minute hour, consistent with the Psychological Association of Alberta’s recommended schedule. We don’t direct bill; you’ll receive a receipt containing everything your insurer requires.

Getting to Our Calgary Office from Chestermere

Be Well Psychology #1200, 630 6 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2P 1X4 · 403-829-8614

Around 25 minutes from Chestermere, straight in on Highway 1.

The route: Highway 1 (16 Avenue) west, continuing to Memorial Drive, then south into the downtown core. From the lake’s south side, Glenmore Trail west to Deerfoot northbound is often the better run.

Timing: Westbound Highway 1 is heaviest before 8:30 a.m. Mid-morning and early-afternoon appointments sidestep it, and the return east is clear well before evening traffic builds.

Parking: Paid parkades sit within a block of 6 Avenue SW.

Winter note: Highway 1 gets wind-exposed east of the city. Allow extra time when conditions turn.
