Langdon has grown quickly over the last few years new subdivisions, young families drawn by prices well below the city, a lot of newcomers who don’t yet have deep roots or nearby extended family. Growth that fast tends to outpace services, and mental health support is one of the things Langdon simply doesn’t have much of yet.
Be Well Psychology sees Langdon residents from our downtown Calgary office, about thirty minutes west via Glenmore Trail and Chestermere. There’s no waitlist and no referral required. We work with adults, couples, families, teenagers, and children.
A move to Langdon often comes with a longer commute, a bigger mortgage, and a fresh start that isn’t always as smooth as planned. We work with adults navigating anxiety and low mood tied to financial pressure, shift work schedules common in trades and energy-sector jobs, and the isolation of building a social circle from scratch in a newer community. Our approaches include CBT, ACT, and EMDR, chosen to fit the person rather than a fixed protocol.
New house, new town, a longer drive to work, and often one partner on shift rotation while the other manages everything at home Langdon relationships absorb a lot of practical strain early on, before either partner has much of a local support system to lean on. Using Gottman Method and attachment-based approaches, we help couples work through financial stress, uneven division of labour, disagreements about settling in versus staying temporary, and the resentment that builds when there’s no one nearby to share the load with.
Many Langdon households are newly arrived, without grandparents or old friends nearby to help absorb a hard week. We support families through relocation adjustment, co-parenting after separation, sibling conflict, and the strain of raising kids without a nearby support network. As the town grows, family therapy also helps households navigate the friction that comes with a fast-changing community new schools, new neighbours, new norms.
A teenager who’s moved to Langdon in the last few years may be starting over socially in a school and town still figuring out its own identity. Combine a small, evolving social world with limited local youth resources, and adolescents who are struggling can end up with nowhere to turn. We work with Langdon teens on anxiety, low mood, self-harm, emotional regulation, ADHD, and the specific stress of repeatedly being ‘the new kid.’ After-school and weekend appointments are available.
For Langdon parents, a child who’s struggling often means driving into the city anyway, since local options are limited and city waitlists run long. Meanwhile the school refusal, the meltdowns, or the behaviour nobody can explain doesn’t wait. Our child therapists use play-based therapy and Triple P Positive Parenting to meet kids where they are. We help with anxiety, big emotions, behavioural concerns, ADHD, autism, and adjustment after a move, with practical tools you can use the same night.
