MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLOR
Alya (Alexis) Ilithyia Serghanuk
Alya takes a compassionate and trauma-informed approach to counselling, helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, and emotional disconnection. She creates a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard and understood, focusing on the root causes of distress rather than just symptom management. Using techniques such as trauma-informed cognitive therapies, mindfulness, and somatic approaches, she guides clients toward lasting healing and self-reconnection. In addition to her counselling work, Alya supports women struggling with disordered eating, rigid food rules, and the psychological factors contributing to amenorrhea (period loss). By addressing the emotional and cognitive patterns underlying restrictive behaviours, she helps clients cultivate a healthier, more balanced relationship with their bodies and eating habits, fostering recovery and well-being. Alya has also contributed to the intersection of mental health and physical well-being by playing a role in developing BioGut, an IBS and chronic illness-focused virtual mental health program/app. Her dedication to holistic care reflects her belief in the deep connection between mind and body, empowering clients to move forward with clarity and self-compassion as their guide.
